Clinical interests

Full-time, consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgeon since 2008, with specialist interests in Hand + Wrist surgery, skin cancer and benign skin conditions. I also have a cosmetic private practice.

Mr Gillespie has had the privilege of being trained by recognised experts in hand surgery from UK, France, Spain, Italy, Australia and the USA and I continue to attend national and international meetings to continue learning the most up-to-date advances and techniques.

He will always listen to your clinical needs and give you a full and honest assessment of possible treatments, both surgical and non-surgical, including the potential benefits as well as the risks.

Procedures performed:

Nerve surgery, including carpal tunnel release and other nerve compressions, denervation for joint pain and nerve transfer surgery after trauma.

Dupuytrens disease, including open surgery (fasciectomy), needle treatments and enzyme treatment.

Arthritis treatments for fingers, thumb and wrist, including steroid injections, trapezectomy, joint replacements, joint rebalancing and joint fusions (including minimal access and arthroscopic surgery). Denervation treatments maintain movement whilst reducing pain and usually have quicker recoveries than larger bony procedures.

Hand, wrist or finger pain and stiffness, including surgical and non-surgical treatments

Trigger finger and thumb

Ganglion treatments for fingers, palm and wrists, including surgical excision and needle treatments

Tendon surgery after trauma or rupture caused by arthritis, tendon reconstruction and tendon transfers.

Fingertip and nail surgery

Skin lesions, benign and skin cancer including melanoma, SCC and BCCs, mole removal, cysts, fatty lumps and lipomas, keloid scar treatment

Skin reconstruction including skin grafts and local flaps

Cosmetic surgery, including abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), gynaecomastia (correcting male breast enlargement), arm reduction, prominent ear correction and ear lobe repair.
