Academic background

Dr Fairfax has been a consultant physician in Stafford since September 1981. He qualified from the London Hospital and completed his specialist training at the Brompton Hospital.

His earlier research interests were in cardiothoracic medicine including embolic stroke in chronic sinoatrial disorder. His MD thesis was on the causes of chronic heart block.

He is head of the Department of Thoracic Medicine and lead clinician for lung cancer diagnosis.
